Tails of Lindy’s Comet

Merry Christmas & 2017 recap

As usual, 2017 has been filled with wonderful adventures.

  • Australia Day ambassador duty;
  • Lindy Spoke at community and school groups;
  • Lindy and I kept fit with helpers from FIT and Achilles members;
  • I got lots of naps while Lindy busy riding on the road and track;
  • Lindy started rowing in a boat as well as rowing machine while I got even more naps;
  • I had a fantastic holiday with my puppy raising family
  • And much much more

The coming highlight for 2018 is the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay.

Lindy has been chosen as to Queen’s Baton bearer for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay. To make sure I don’t get Lindy lost during our 200m journey, I have recruited Kerry to help us. I figure if Kerry can pilot Lindy in Para-cycling races and keep her from falling off the rowing machines, she can definitely make sure we don’t take the Queen’s Baton to the wrong place.

The Baton Relay will commence in Australia on Christmas Day and finish in the stadium on the Gold Coast on the 4th April when the Queen’s message will be read out during the Opening Ceremony.

Lindy will be carrying the Queen’s Baton in Canberra, on day 31 of the Relay in Australia.

The Canberra relay will take place on 25th January, the day before Australia Day with Anticipated segment start time: 14:08 (2:08pm). The Approximate start location is Lotus Bay Beach, West Lake (Boat Ramp); Alexandrina Dr, Yarralumla with the Approximate end location: Alexandrina Dr, 50m before Flynn Dr; Yarralumla

For those of you who live in Canberra and nearby, it would be wonderful if you can come out to support us during this special event. To all my Canberra Guide Dog workmates, please bring your handlers along. I recommend that everyone comes early in case the relay is running ahead of schedule.
